Downtown Knoxville Loft Mural
This mural was a fun collaboration with mosaic artist Melissa Wiley. My client wanted something for the entrance wall between two brick columns.
The mural location was a 10’ x 20’ Sheetrock wall in a hallway. I used the Pellon process which is a wonderful fabric-like product that is installed on any kind of substrate. You can paint it in your studio and then go install it. I chose that because I do not live in Knoxville. The theme of course is UT, track team, football, downtown historical Sterchi building, Smokey, and the World’s Fair globe! Melissa and I chose the Tennessee sign and the globe to mosaic. I cut these pieces from the mural and gave them the Melissa to create the mosaic. Then, we went to Knoxville and installed it together. It was a fun project! We love the look of the mirror glass with the whimsical mural.
